porcelain lilypad installation (2011)

These lilypad pieces are from a specific installation work that was exhibited in 2011, working with a local art gallery owner, as part of a project during my degree study.

Inspired by 1820 Georgian House of the client, my main focus was the beautiful original feature of the house, such as floor tiles, glass panels and old wall paper, which reappeared as restoration continued. Secondly, I was fascinated by the story of the fishpond (with a live fish in it!) that were undiscovered for many years. This work captured a sense of revealing “hidden beauty” in both elements, for which I expressed in fragile hand-thrown porcelain lilypad with pierced & hand-drawn pattern screen printed decal, accompanied with a short film ‘fish point of view’.
